Oil hits $142 a barrel
I can't even feel all that superior (by walking or riding the Metro to work), because the cost of fuel affects everything. I so wish I was wealthy enough to have a freestanding house in this area that I could have solar panels installed on, and at least have a small garden. Remember when Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the White House And then Reagan took them down. Yeesh.

I wouldn't be too hard on Reagan about the Solar Panels. Other things, sure, but not the Panels. For real, that was a NEW technology when peanut farmer put them on the roof. Probably had to cook in the sun all day long for 20 minutes of power! Plus everybody knows it was a joke, because the WH has it's own power supply.
As far as gas at 142 or whatever it's going to get up to, I say it's a wonderful thing. Sure it will make things a bit painful now, but it will force the market to change. Force manufacturers to make electric cars, becuase the people will demand such! I can't wait till one of the companies comes out with the Model T of electric cars, it'll make them instant billionaires and I'll buy the stocks!
