It was a long day... went in to work early, had a dentist appt (good news: no cavities; bad news: I had to pay because my new insurance won't, even though he is 'in the network,' because they made me pick a preferred provider and I picked someone else at the time because he wasn't in the network then... god I hate health insurance companies.) Now I'm trying to write and my eyelids are closing... so. sleepy.
Tomorrow is gonna be tougher: I'm not only teaching my 6:30 am spin class, but I'm subbing my old 6:30 pm class. I used to do both all the time, so it shouldn't kill me...
I really need to do some new spin mixes too. Any suggestions for music?

Heads up
Secret Diary entry!
Meanwhile, I'm watching Joseph and Tommy do their fabulous interpretation of Deborah Cox's Easy As Life. Silly me. Joseph (the bald one) is the better dancer, but Tommy is so darn cute....
Now I'm watching this great (Big Red's) remix of Savage Garden's To The Moon and Back. Somehow Darren looks great even speeded up.

All I have to do is pretend I never knew you
On those very rare occasions
When you steal in to my heart
Better to have lost you
When the ties were barely binding
Better the contempt of the familiar cannot start
It's easy as life
I try to forget how much I want him here
Let my dreams slowly disappear
I cannot forget, let my emotions die
Oh I, I don't want to try
Nothing in life is ever easy
Nothing in love will ever run true
My heart will never stop believing
I still believe in what love can do
It hurts to think about you, when I wanna touch you
And how we would've been if you were here with me today
Oh, those very rare occasions
They keep on coming
All I ever wanted
I'm throwing it away
Nothing in life is ever easy
Nothing in love will ever run true
My heart will never stop believing
I still believe in what love can do

W-2
I am going to have four W-2's this year. Four! That's ridiculous. I have one for some tiny amount from the Mac consulting place, one from the big printing place, one from the design place I'm at now, and I'm still waiting for the one from the health club where I teach. Whew.

I love Seth MacFarlane
There is an interview with him in this month's Advocate (which I have mysteriously started getting for free...) in which he talks about the Parents Television Council ("They're just rotten to the core") and a bunch of other stuff, including that Stewie is gay (no surprise there) and about an upcoming gay marriage episode. But the funniest of all:
Advocate: If you inexplicably woke up gay tomorrow, what would be your first order of business?
SM: Seek out Justin Timberlake and get him to admit it.
Heh.

My Weekend
It started out looking like a disaster, but turned out not so bad.
I got home from work and the heat wasn't working. Not the first time, but this time I was really afraid the heat pump had died and I was looking at an expense of thousands and days of work missed. I called the company that had installed the air handler a few years ago, but since it was 2 minutes after 5 pm, no one answered. I called another company randomly from the yellow pages who could send out a guy on Saturday for no extra charges. Still fearing the worst, I turned on a heater and went to bed.
So Saturday afternoon the guy showed up. Hottest. Repair. Guy. EVER. He was like mid-20's, blond, blue eyes, great body, baseball cap, very polite and smart (a friend speculated maybe he was ex-military). Turned out the people who had installed the air handler had used wire caps that had melted. He replaced them and had it fixed in an hour. I was sorry to see him go.
So after that big sigh of relief I got a lot of work done, went to bed, got up early and did a bit more work before Sunday spin. Then did some more Sunday afternoon, faced a mob at the grocery...
Sunday night I decided to watch An Inconvenient Truth. I got about halfway through it and was kinda bored. So what did I do? I put in Under One Roof. Why do I punish myself with this goofy, amateurish, silly Gaysian romantic comedy? Who knows. I blame the wine. Afterwards I got online and chatted with J. then went to bed.
This morning on the Metro I stood next to a kinda cute young Asian guy in a suit with diamonds in his ears and a funky jade bracelet. He wouldn't make eye contact, but maybe it was my dark sunglasses. I was too timid to take them off.
And so another week begins...

Sick-ish
Actually, I'm not sick, thankfully. But I woke up this morning with horrible congestion; I'd really love to know what triggers this, because yesterday I woke up feeling okay. I took a Zyrtec (no longer prescription! Yay!) and am feeling somewhat better. A couple people here at work think they may have sinus infections, and someone just called in sick with one. Now there is a rumor that Heath Ledger's death may have been related to the flu!?!
It's Friday (pizza day at work! great, mor fat for me!) and I'm looking forward to/hoping for a very productive weekend of writing...

Coming and Going
I was more than a little shocked to hear about Heath Ledger, not to mention the circumstances surrounding his death (found nude on his bed by the housekeeper and a masseur who had arrived for an appointment, with prescription sleeping pills nearby... oh my.) Guess we'll get more details after the autopsy.
On a happier note, today is Richard (MacGyver) Dean (Stargate SG-1's Colonel Jack O'Neill) Anderson's birthday!

Handyman
Ty Pennington has nothing on me! Well, except his evil, weepy remake show, and his DUI, and his inexplicable aspirin promotions thing...
ANYWAY.
Because of a terrible accident involving an HP inkjet printer that would jam on every page and my flimsy 2nd bedroom/home office door material, the other day suddenly had a 4" gash in my door. Not Pretty. How do you repair a hole that large in some crappy door? Well I figured a way.
I cut a used dryer sheet (the white webby-mesh type) in a circle and glued it over the hole, then I spackled over it starting at the edge and working inward in three phases, workign the spackle into the material. Some sanding and paint and... Voila!

Social
So I was actually a little it social on Saturday nite.
I went over to V.'s, (I haven't seen him in, like, a year or more I think) we went out for burgers (wow there are a lot of restaurants all around Ballston now), then we went back and watched 300. It was good I guess, lots of abs and blood mostly.
After Spin on Sunday morning in the locker room I saw as usual this little cute Asian and middle-aged boyfriend who always show up for the yoga class right after. He and I usually make eye contact at least once, but this time he busted me a couple of times. He's hard to read though; he doesn't look annoyed, and I catch him looking at me sometimes. Wonder what's up with that. Where's my cute little Asian boyfriend?

Sick
I feel like I've been out of circulation for ages. I have been home sick with either a real bad cold or a sinus infection, except for coming for a couple hours yesterday morning to finish a project that was due. After that everyone said I looked so horrible that I should go home. I appreciate their concern... guess I looked like death.
So I stumbled home and crawled into bed. Thank god for TiVo (and a couple of old eps of Stargate on Sci-fi) to rescue me from the horror that is daytime TV . Which reminds me... my ancient Series Once SOny TiVo has limped along lo these many years, but with the coming of the switch to Digital, I assume my old Comcast analog signal that the TiVo runs on will be cut off.
So what do I get now for the bedroom TV (which is what I watch TV on almsot exclusively; the big tv is for DVDs and the Wii)? I have a Comcast tuner/DVR on the big TV in the living room and I hate it. HATE IT. Supposedly there is a new one that uses the TiVo interface, but not quite as elegantly. But, if I buy a newer model TiVo, will it let me change channels without using the clunky IR blaster thingy? So many questions! Help!

Jessie's Girl
I just love this video! I play this new version in a couple of my spin mixes. And you know who the shrink is, don't you?
More dreaming
Last night brought another round of dreamns, but these centered around one theme: a house. This house was in some ways the house in Bethel Park where I spent years 10-17, but the interior would often morph into a sprawling mansion with a huge grand foyer and stairway. I know that a house is supposed to be a euphamism for your mind or something, but I'm not sure it applies here. I seemed to spend most of the dream keeping the hosue secure. Besides me, it seemed to be full of tenants, all youngis women. And they were all kind of ditsy and would never lock the doors when they went out or came home. I was constantly nagging them to keep the doors locked because apparently there had been a break-in awhile back and I was terrified it would happen again. So I seemed to spend most of the dream running around in this huge house locking doors.
Then suddenly I woke up at 9:00 am thinking it was Saturday and I had plenty of time to get to class, when someone told me it was Thursday, and I had completely missed my 6:30 spin class, and I would probably be fired! THis probably came from talking to another instructor last night about the crazy new manager at one club who apparently has a 'firing agenda.' Ugh.

Blah
The weather has been crazy warm there the last few days and it has wreaked havoc with my sinuses. I felt so crappy that I went home early today. and originally I thought I would get some writing done at home, but instead I goofed off and laid around on the bed all afternoon. Oh, and ate too much. My bad. I told myself I was going to go to the gym and take the hour spin class, but now I am just going to do some cardio for half an hour, get some sushi and go home. Well, better than nothing, and maybe that wasabi will clear my sinuses out!

Dream a little dream...
... or three.
The problem with going to bed early for me (I succumbed at 8:15!?) Is I get in several rounds of dream sleep. Last night I had dreams about San Francisco (I blame Under One Roof), R. (of course) and, of all things, Seung-Hui Cho. Yeah him again.
Only the SF dream was a happy one. The ones with R. (there were several) were uncomfortable, and there was one with Cho involving me confronting him in the hallway of the academic building and trying to get him to put the guns down that replayed itself over and over with different endings like some Star Trek: TNG time-loop episode.
I even woke up at around 2 and watched Colbert Report; it wasn't half bad, though I don't know how long he can sustain the writer's strike jokes a all those clips. It was after that that the Cho dreams started...
I need more coffee.

The weekend
Well I got a few things done (cleaned the bathroom, ugh!) but not as much writing as I would have liked. Then last night I curle up and watched this agin. It's just as clumsy and cute as before.
Here is is 6:00 pm and I'm sleepy already. What's up with that? I'm certainly not going to last till the return of The Colbert Report tonight; thank god for TiVo. But I'm afraid the show is going to be a pale shadow of what it was without writers. No "Tonight's Word"?! Unthinkable!

Cold
I was having an IM discussion with J. about how cold it is; it was in the low 20°s (F) this morning and a little windy for my 25 min walk through Rosslyn and across the Key Bridge into Gtown for class, but I was bundled up pretty well and I found my walk invigorating. He thought I was crazy. Everyone at work was going on about how cold it is... what I hate is the DC summers. Of course I also keep my home at 66°F at night and 68 during the day. I'm Mr Freeze! In an unrelated front I found this cute picture of—not James Brown, but—my favorite cutie CNN anchorman looking all hot and casual in his jeans and open shirt.
In a barely related front, I am so sick and tired of the primaries. I guess I lean towards Hillary (mainly because of Bill) but at this point I'd be happy to have her or Obama or Edwards and just be done with it. Just so we don't get that Mormon Romney or that wacko (Kathhy Griffin's word!) Huckabee, or some other kook republican. Okay enough about that.

Joel de la Fuente
Courtesy of angry asian man, I see that the little cutieJoel de la Fuente is on a new series. Some of us remember him as the heart-wrenchingly damaged Paul Wang from the awesome series Space: Above and Beyond
