Surprisingly enough, given my thing for boybands, I ignored the early stages of the tv phenomenon known as American Idol. But, when I learned that one of the hosts was none other than long time idle speculation object Ryan Seacrest, I had to tune in. I must say he's become even more, uh, fey, than before, when I used to watch him Sunday mornings on the Sc-fi channel doing this c|net produced show about technology called The New Edge. Every show opened with Ryan strutting down this metal staircase wearing extremely tight and flattering sweaters... oh yeah and the gadgets were cool too. Apparently now the evil Simon taunts Ryan about wearing see-through shirts.

Thankfully, some things never change.
